Chilean Actor Alex Araya Found Dead in Colombia After Tinder Date

Medellín, Colombia – The body of Chilean actor Alex Araya, 42, was discovered in his Airbnb rental in Medellín on June 7, leaving his family desperate for answers. His brother, Eduardo Araya, revealed that Alex was last seen with two women he met on Tinder the night before.

Mysterious Circumstances

Video footage showed Alex and the two women entering his rental around 11:30 p.m. on June 6. Two hours later, the women were seen leaving without him, taking his credit cards and phone. These items were subsequently used for various purchases, including Uber rides, gas station transactions, groceries, and jewelry.

Family’s Suspicion

Eduardo believes the women are part of a larger gang targeting tourists. He suspects Alex was drugged with scopolamine, a substance that can cause unconsciousness and, in higher doses, can be lethal. Although Alex’s body showed no visible signs of trauma, it was found in a condition similar to other tourist victims in the area.

Rising Tourist Deaths

Alex is the 29th tourist to die in Medellín this year. The US State Department has issued a level three travel advisory for Colombia, urging Americans to reconsider travel due to the high rates of crime, terrorism, civil unrest, and kidnapping.

Dating Apps and Danger

The US Embassy in Bogota has reported an increase in drug-involved robberies where suspects use dating apps to find victims. The embassy advises caution, highlighting the trend of sedatives being used during dates to rob individuals while they are disoriented.

Call for Justice

Eduardo and the rest of Alex’s family are calling for a thorough investigation to uncover the full extent of those involved in his brother’s death. They hope to find justice and prevent future incidents from occurring.
