Former Chicago Bears Star Jay Cutler Arrested for DUI After Alleged Attempt to Pay Off Crash Victim

Nashville Incident Sparks Controversy

Former Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, known for his leadership of the NFL team, was arrested in Franklin, Tennessee, after allegedly attempting to pay off a driver he rear-ended to avoid police involvement. The incident, which took place on Thursday afternoon in the Nashville suburb, has raised concerns about Cutler’s conduct and DUI charges.

$2,000 Offer to Avoid Police Call

According to a police report obtained by WGN in Chicago, Cutler allegedly offered the other driver $2,000 to not call the police. Despite the offer, officers were summoned, and upon arrival, they noticed several signs of intoxication in Cutler, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and a strong smell of alcohol.

Refusal of Sobriety Test Leads to Arrest

Cutler initially denied drinking but later admitted to having “a little bit” of alcohol. He refused to take a field sobriety test, prompting police to obtain a blood sample through a search warrant at a hospital.

During the investigation, police also discovered a rifle and a loaded Glock in Cutler’s vehicle, leading to additional charges of possession of a handgun while under the influence.

Charged and Released on Bond

Cutler was arrested and booked into the Williamson County Jail but was released later on a $5,000 bond. Along with the DUI charge, Cutler is facing accusations of failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision, which heightens the seriousness of the case.

NFL Career and Public Spotlight

Cutler played college football at Vanderbilt University in Nashville before entering the NFL. He spent 12 seasons in the league, including three with the Denver Broncos and eight with the Chicago Bears, leading them to an NFC Championship game in 2010. He played his final season with the Miami Dolphins in 2017 before retiring.

Off the field, Cutler gained media attention for his marriage to reality TV star Kristin Cavallari, though the couple has since divorced.

This recent arrest marks a troubling chapter in Cutler’s post-football life and has drawn significant attention, overshadowing his once-successful NFL career.
