Shakira Hospitalized, Cancels Lima Concert

Colombian superstar Shakira has canceled her scheduled concert in Lima, Peru, after being hospitalized due to an abdominal issue. The singer announced her condition on social media, expressing deep regret over the unforeseen event.

In a statement shared on her Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts, Shakira revealed that she sought emergency medical attention the previous night and is currently under hospital care. Doctors have advised that she is not in a suitable condition to perform. “I am very sad that I will not be able to take the stage today. I have been deeply emotional and excited about reuniting with my beloved Peruvian audience,” she conveyed.

Shakira arrived in Peru on Friday evening, with performances scheduled for Sunday and Monday as part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” Latin American tour. This tour commenced with two shows in Brazil earlier in the week. The singer has received warm welcomes from fans across the continent, with enthusiastic crowds gathering at airports to greet her. “Thank you for such an emotional welcome, Lima!” she posted on Instagram upon her arrival.

Despite the setback, Shakira remains optimistic about resuming her tour. She mentioned that her team and the event promoters are actively working to reschedule the canceled concert. “My plan is to perform this show as soon as possible,” she stated.

The “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” tour supports Shakira’s latest album of the same name, which draws inspiration from her personal experiences, including her highly publicized divorce. The album features the global hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53” and recently earned the Best Latin Pop Album award at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Following the Latin American leg, the tour is set to continue in Canada and the United States in May, with concerts running through June. Fans are encouraged to stay tuned for updates regarding rescheduled dates and further announcements.
