Following a seizure during a special teams meeting, defensive lineman BJ Thompson went into cardiac arrest, forcing the Kansas City Chiefs to cancel their organized practice on Thursday. According to reports from NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero, Thompson is now in stable condition at the hospital. “The Chiefs canceled all team activities today after a backup defensive lineman had a seizure in a special teams meeting and went into cardiac arrest, per sources,” Pelissero wrote in X. “The team’s medical staff worked quickly, an ambulance was called, and the player is currently in stable condition.” Thompson, 25, was selected by the Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2023 draft out of Stephen F. Austin University in Texas. In the regular season’s penultimate game in January, he made his team debut against the Chargers. Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were not present for that game since the Chiefs had already guaranteed a postseason spot. Thompson was a member of the Chiefs squad that visited the White House with President Biden last week to celebrate winning the Super Bowl. On his Instagram account, he posted multiple photos from the trip along with a humorous message stating that it “got me feeling like the president.”
