Netflix began rolling out its first major revamp of the television app in a decade on Thursday. The world’s largest streaming service is testing changes to help viewers quickly decide what to watch. Instead of static tiles, the new design features boxes that expand to show previews and more information when selected. Currently, the TV app on Apple TV, Roku devices, and smart televisions displays trailers, cast details, and a synopsis at the top of the screen. The overall layout is simpler, offering all key information in one place. It appears less cluttered and more similar to the mobile app. These changes follow company research indicating that users were performing what Netflix executive Pat Flemming termed “eye gymnastics” when searching for a title.
