Just thirty days before his release, John ‘Eastside’ McAllister, a breakout star of the controversial Netflix documentary series ‘Unlocked, passed away under mysterious circumstances at the age of 29. On June 2, officials at Pulaski Correctional Center in Arkansas found McAllister lifeless in his bunk. Despite immediate transport to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff, he was declared dead shortly before 9:00 am. ‘Unlocked: A Jail Experiment,’ an eight-part series that premiered in April, depicted prisoners experiencing unprecedented autonomy and freedom. As the cause of McAllister’s death remains unknown, authorities have ruled out both suicide and murder, leaving his family and fans in a state of sorrow and confusion.
